Bruce Szamier
Yacht Broker, Florida
(954) 609-0307
Bruce joined Wellington Yacht Partners with over 23 years experience as a successful yacht broker in Ft. Lauderdale. Originally from Connecticut, he grew up pursuing interests as diverse as skiing, hiking, spelunking and scuba diving. The last activity allowed him to capture and share his love of the ocean with his world-renowned underwater photography.
He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut and from there enjoyed a distinguished career in medical research at the University of Texas Medical School and then Harvard Medical School, as well as work as a research scientist at the Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory. It was during his research in Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School that colleagues introduced him to sailing. He was “hooked” and since then has logged over 100,000 sea miles as captain on both motoryachts and sailboats, with some time spent in nearly every ocean of the world. These experiences dramatically changed the direction and focus of his life.
During the ensuing years he developed a vast knowledge and experience with motoryachts, sport fisherman, trawlers and sailboats. This has made him an invaluable resource to clients in search of the proper yacht to pursue their dreams. Bruce has been involved in the worldwide sale of yachts spanning a broad spectrum of yachting, including both megayachts and sailboats, as well as new construction projects. It is no wonder then that he was a natural to join Wellington Yacht Partners.
His family also shares his love of the water and boating. His daughter Margot, New Zealand-born son-in-law Mark, and three grandchildren Maia, Griffin, and Isla, live in Wellington, NZ, and the Solomon Islands. Mark has been appointed as the NZ High Commissioner in the Solomon Islands and Margot continues as Director at Litmus, NZ.
Bruce is always quick to laugh; his enthusiasm for the yacht business and dedication to his clients is indicative of just how much he enjoys life.
