Jim grew up on the water in Marblehead, Massachusetts, where boating became a way of life early on. After graduating from Syracuse University with a degree in marketing, Jim became a full-time yacht captain. He ran boats professionally for ten years, making annual trips between New England, the Canadian Maritimes, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. During this time, he skippered for such notable yachtsmen as Henry Hinckley and Ted Hood.

Jim specializes in high-quality cruising yachts of all makes and sizes. He offers the unique perspective of one who has hands-on experience in yacht management, maintenance, seamanship, design and construction. Many of his clients stay in close contact, seeking advice on such topics as cruising destinations and boatyard refit work.

Aside from being a Certified Professional Yacht Broker, Jim is Past Chairman and current member of the Yacht Brokers Association of America Standards and Ethics Committee. He also holds a U.S. Coast Guard Captains license and is a member of the Cruising Club of America and the Bristol Yacht Club.

Jim spends his free time working on and sailing his 42 foot teak cutter “Arianna.”
