CYNARA is a gorgeous example of the highly sought-after Bristol 49.9. She is one of several Bristol 47.7s which were extended in the mold by Bristol at the factory to provide additional storage in the lazarette, more usable deck space and additional floor space in the aft cabin. The centerline queen berth in the aft cabin is a very desirable feature and worth noting is the considerable amount of built-in storage available in this cabin.
CYNARA has benefited from significant refitting and upgrades over the years (not the least of which are new teak decks in 2002) - many details of which can be found in the listing. Recent highlights include: Northern Lights generator, new in 2018; sails (2018, very light usage); bottom job (three coats of bottom epoxy and two coats ablative, 2018); seacocks serviced during a recent haul-out and cockpit scupper drain hoses renewed; winches, windlass and roller furling systems all serviced April 2019; hatch lenses in salon renewed 2019.
This Ted Hood keel/centerboard design is perfect wherever shoal draft is desired without sacrificing upwind performance. Her draft measures 5’-6” with board up, and 11’ with board down. She goes surprisingly well in light air, but is a capable bluewater performer. We have represented many of these Bristol sailboats over the decades and CYNARA is truly a standout.
Reduced in asking price to US $229,000, CYNARA is an outstanding value in today’s market.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Starting forward: the forward stateroom has a generous V-berth with small settee in between and filler piece to make a large double. There is plenty of storage with: built in ventilated lockers above and below the berths; a chest of drawers; three large cedar lined hanging lockers with louvered doors and storage under the berth. Light and ventilation are provided by a large overhead opening hatch and two opening ports. This cabin has its own AC/reverse cycle heat vent and control, augmented by a 12v fan. The hull sides above the berths are wood trimmed in oak in nice contrast to the rest of the darker teak joinery. This cabin also has its own stereo system.
Aft and to port is the spacious VIP/day head with en-suite shower complemented by an antique white countertop trimmed in teak with a porcelain sink and tiled soles. Access to the head is direct from the forward cabin and via a second door from the passageway.
Next aft the main salon is open, pleasant and bright. There is a large settee to starboard (slides out for additional berthing width) and an L-shaped dinette to port (which converts easily to a double berth) with a table in the center. This L shaped settee allows for comfortable lounging out of the way of the passageways forward and aft and is a nice feature of the layout. Book shelves and storage are above the dinette and settee. An area for a bar setup is just aft of the dinette and features a mirror lined and illuminated cabinet with custom bottle holders and shelf above for drinks glasses.
The large galley is located aft and to starboard of the salon and features white tile with blue borders and red accents on the aft bulkhead which brightens up the space. The counter wraps around behind and beneath the companionway which creates more working space and opens the galley up to the port side of the salon and nav area.
A large, custom, forward-facing navigation station is located in the passageway between the salon and the aft stateroom. There is a large chart table and storage area, with all navigation equipment attractively flush-mounted. Also located in this passageway is access to the machinery behind removable insulated doors with the electrical panels located above.
The master stateroom features a centerline queen berth with a comfortable, custom innerspring mattress. As mentioned previously there is additional wiggle room in this cabin with added sole space at the foot of the berth and with the soles extended either side to allow access from either side of the berth. There are (5) stainless steel opening ports and a large overhead hatch, (2) dorade deck vents along with dedicated AC/reverse cycle heat controls.
The master head features a separate stall shower forward with built in seat and its own opening port for additional light and ventilation with the head and vanity just aft- also with an additional opening port. The soles in the head and shower are white tile.
All interior woodwork has been re-finished including the teak and holly cabin sole, table and companion steps. Virtually all interior lighting has been upgraded.
