EAGLE'S NEST | Hylas 47 Center Cockpit | 47ft

Dighton, MA, US

Fresh out of the renowned Bristol Marine paint booth, and with a mile-long list of cruising equipment, EAGLE’S NEST is surely the nicest Hylas 47 on the market, and the perfect center cockpit to take you down the bay or around the world with comfort and speed. She is well priced to be competitive against not just her sisterships, but also against other larger and newer cruising yachts on the market. After years of gentle New England cruising, with each winter spent in the yard for maintenance, her experienced and knowledgeable owners are moving up to a new boat, and so (with heavy hearts) have decided to sell. This boat is absolutely turnkey for a passagemaking or liveaboard program and must be seen to truly appreciate her stellar condition.

Highlights include:

  • Completely repainted, from the deck to the keel (2019)
  • Non-skid instead of teak decks
  • Push-button electric in-mast furling mainsail
  • Push-button electric furling headsail
  • Substantial wind and solar field for fossil-free power generation
  • Plenty of safety gear and cruising gear onboard, including life raft, EPIRB etc.

The Hylas 47 is synonymous with performance cruising, having been designed by Rod Stephens for effortless mile-munching offshore. With her long keel section and center cockpit, the motion at sea is even better than kindly – it will truly spoil you. Not to mention the dry helm position and the ergonomic layout of the winches and deck hardware for single or short-handed sailing.

The icing on this cake is found belowdecks, however. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more spacious or well-appointed interior on a boat of this size. Her unique three-cabin, two-head layout offers plenty of versatility in your accommodation plan, and the safety and convenience of her double walk-through aft section was well before its time.

She’s seriously for sale and easy to show, so come see for yourself why Sail Magazine labeled her “One of the best designed, best built sailboats under 50 feet….”

The Hylas 47 stands out in her class with her three staterooms and two heads, including a massive centerline queen berth in the aft master cabin. Other notable features include her double walkthrough passageways around the companionway and engine space – the galley passage on port side and nav station to starboard. This avoids crew having to make a tight pass against the chef while he or she is cooking in the galley. It also makes for excellent access to all sides of the engine. Walking forward past the large salon, you’ll find a large single-berth cabin to port, and the luxurious V-berth stateroom just forward. All cabins offer ample hanging lockers and cabinet storage, as well as large opening hatches and portlights which let in plenty of light and air. The entire interior is beautifully finished in varnished teak, which has been well looked after and refinished as needed over the years.
