ACCOMMODATIONS
The design emphasis of the Passport 40 was on live-aboard comfort without compromising on sailing ability or safety at sea. She sleeps four in two private cabins, plus two additional guests in the main salon. The interior is richly finished with varnished solid teak trim, bulkhead staving, doors, and tables with teak and holly cabin soles.
GALLEY
Upon entering the Passport 40 one of the most impressive features is her light and roomy interior. Few yachts of this size offer as much living space. Starting aft and to port, the 8' galley is large enough for two people to work comfortably in together.
Some of the many features include:
AFT STATEROOM
Aft and to starboard is the private guest cabin with a full double berth that also provides a great sea berth while sailing offshore. There is plenty of storage, a large wet locker, vanity mirror, and two opening portholes. A marine toilet is concealed below a small settee.
SALON
The L-shaped dinette to port features a fold-up table that provides excellent access around the dinette while lounging and entertaining. There is a full-length settee to starboard with storage behind the settees, as well as bookshelves and cabinets outboard of the settees. Also to starboard is the aft facing nav station with generous chart table, electronics and switch panels. The main engine is under the table with removable insulated side panels and top to allow for easy access. Bronze opening portholes and an overhead hatch provide lots of light and ventilation. Chelsea clock and barometer included.
MASTER STATEROOM
Further forward is the large forward stateroom that features a double berth that is easy to get into and just as easy to make up. Large drawers and lockers are built in below the berth. Opposite the berth are hanging lockers and bureau with a mirror above. There is a vanity mirror, opening hatch and opening portholes.
HEAD
The head and shower are located forward of the master stateroom with a vanity and stainless sink, marine toilet, hand-held shower, varnished teak grate, mirror, and abundant storage for towels, linens, and first aid supplies. There are opening portholes for light and ventilation. The forward bulkhead door provides access to the forepeak and chain locker.

GENERAL CONSTRUCTION
Solid fiberglass hull hand laminated of 24-ounce roving, 1.5 ounce mat and polyester resin. Laminated thickness per designer's specifications. Longitudinal and transverse stringers provide hull stiffness. Modified fin keel with skeg mounted rudder. Internal iron ballast (one piece cast to minimum tolerances).
The hull is Awlgrip White with Flag Blue cove stripe, single boot stripe and blue bottom. Teak decks were removed in 2011 with deck finished in Awlgrip White and beige non-skid.
Comments from the builder:
"Good weather should be reserved for sailing, not varnishing! The Passport 40 has just enough teak to make the boat extremely handsome but not burdensome. A primary design concern was to set the boat up for short-handed or single-handed sailing. Triple turning blocks and sheet stoppers lead all lines aft to the cockpit equipped with all self-tailing winches. Also, the sail plan was designed so that the boat will sail well under the main alone.”
