Spotlight: MYSTERY, a Lyman-Morse / Fontaine Custom 63
Designed by Ted Fontaine and built by the renowned craftsmen at Lyman-Morse in Thomaston, Maine, MYSTERY is a 63-foot pilothouse performance cruiser conceived for fast, comfortable offshore passages with a small crew. Her shoal-draft keel/centerboard configuration, protected center cockpit, and inside steering station reflect a design brief that few builders could execute at this level: a yacht able to go anywhere, sailed short-handed, without compromise.
MYSTERY has just emerged from an extraordinary three-year, Maine-based renewal program touching nearly every system aboard — electrical, navigation, propulsion, rigging, sail handling, HVAC, plumbing, safety, and domestic systems. The result is a yacht that shows, and performs, like new.

Proven Pedigree: A Ted Fontaine design built by Lyman-Morse, drawing on more than 35,000 hours of construction and 2,300 hours of design work — offering the caliber of a custom build without the cost or lead time of commissioning new.
Shoal-Draft Versatility: A centerboard arrangement ranging from 6’6″ board-up to 14’2″ board-down, opening up shoal cruising grounds while delivering real upwind performance under sail.
Well Designed Pilothouse: An inside steering station paired with dining and gathering space for up to six guests, framed by seven large fixed windows and full climate control — a genuinely livable indoor space to complement the deck and cockpit.
Herreshoff-Inspired Craftsmanship: Varnished mahogany and teak joinery throughout, paired with painted panels and overheads, teak-and-holly soles, and finish details that honor a classic New England aesthetic.
Comprehensively Renewed Systems: A 33.1 kW Epoch/Victron lithium electrical system, Raymarine Axiom 2 Pro navigation suite, new ZF transmission, retractable hydraulic bow thruster, and a fully serviced rig and sail-handling package — all completed within the last three years.
