Experience Excellence in Newport: Step Aboard WISP

September 8, 2026
2024 Artisan Boatworks Stephens Waring 39, port side view sailing.

There is a particular kind of yacht that stops people mid-stride on the docks — not because she is the biggest boat in the harbor, but because of her classic yet modern beauty. At this year’s Newport International Boat Show, Wellington Yacht Partners is delighted to welcome you aboard one of those yachts.

Gracing our in-water display with her simple elegance is WISP, a custom 39-foot Stephens Waring daysailer built by Artisan Boatworks in Rockport, Maine — a yacht that reimagines the classic gentleman’s daysailer for a new generation of sailors.

Our brokers will be dockside throughout the show, happy to talk design, performance, or simply the state of the market with anyone who stops by.

Spotlight: WISP by Stephens Waring Yacht Design

Launched in 2024, WISP is the newest expression of SWYD’s celebrated Spirit of Tradition lineage, where timeless lines meet contemporary engineering. Her gracefully balanced hull and elegant overhangs recall the great mid-century cruiser-racers. Her performance under sail — especially in light air — is thoroughly modern. Offered now just a year after launch, she gives a buyer the rare chance to own a nearly new, artisan-built yacht without the wait or expense of a new commission.

Key Features

Effortless Singlehanding: A thoughtfully designed cockpit routes every sail control, including the downwind gennaker, to push-button operation within easy reach of the helm — true singlehanded sailing without compromise.

Surprising Interior Volume: Standing headroom in both the galley and head is a rare find on a daysailer, giving WISP genuine weekender comfort including saloon seating for four and a queen-size forward berth.

Advanced Rig and Sail Handling: A Moore Brothers carbon two-spreader rig, electro-hydraulic vang, and an under-deck mainsheet system with a reverse-purchase hydraulic cylinder combine for quick, confident sail trim in any condition.

Clever, Uncluttered Deck Design: A dual-purpose cockpit keeps guests lounging comfortably forward while sailing controls stay aft and out of the way — with a stow-away anchor launcher and belowdecks windlass preserving her clean, classic lines.

Artisan Maine Craftsmanship: Cold-molded cedar and E-glass construction, built by one of Maine’s most respected small yards, delivers the fit, finish, and durability expected of a true custom yacht.

Whether you are drawn to her sailing performance, her clever singlehanded systems, or simply the beauty of her lines, WISP must be experienced in person.
