Kristel’s lifelong connection to the sea began in Denmark, where she grew up sailing with her father on the fjords in his homemade boat. That early passion for the water has carried through every chapter of her life, from working at a summer sailing camp in the Caribbean during her college years, to enjoying days on Mount Hope Bay with her family today.
A graduate of Fordham University with a degree in education, Kristel brings more than 24 years of experience as both a teacher and administrator. Her professional path has also included owning a beloved local café and working in real estate; ventures that highlight her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to community.
Since settling in Rhode Island in 2006, Kristel has combined her Danish roots, New England upbringing, and love of the ocean into a career that blends leadership, service, and the boating lifestyle.
When she’s not at Wellington, Kristel treasures time with her husband, four children, and grandchildren. She also enjoys traveling, biking, walking her dog, knitting, and, of course, being on the water.
