Ryan began his boating career in the waters of Glacier Bay, Alaska, but has called Newport, Rhode Island, home base for the past 25 years. He has worked with both power and sailing vessels across a wide range of settings—from inshore and offshore cruising on such yachts as the Aage Nielsen-designed HOUND in the Caribbean to New England for competitive racing with many programs such as the 12 Metre INTREPID, winning numerous regattas over the years.
In addition to serving as captain and crew aboard a variety of yachts, Ryan has managed refits and overseen new builds, notably the first Hinckley Bermuda 50, JAMBI, which he captained for eight years.
Focused on helping clients find the right yacht for their needs—whether for adventure, relaxation, or racing—Ryan provides straightforward, informed guidance throughout the buying process and beyond, often training clients on their boat’s systems and operation with the result of prepared, safe and enjoyable time on the water.
When he’s not helping clients find their perfect yacht, Ryan enjoys sailing his vintage Lightning-class sailboat around Narragansett Bay and skiing with his wife and two children.
