ZINGARA | Brooklin Boat Yard Custom 45 Yawl | 45ft

Portsmouth, RI, US

ZINGARA is one of those rare and special boats which we don’t often see on the brokerage market. Built of wood (cold molded) by Canells Boatyard, then finished by the legendary Brooklin Boatyard in Maine, her 2001 vintage only becomes obvious below the waterline as her modern keel and performance lines give way to a truly classic deck and interior befitting of any of the New England pedigree builders of the past. Don’t let her elegant lines fool you though - she’s a thoroughbred on the race course with a literal wall of trophies to prove it (Opera House, Figawi and many others). She’s also easy to sail, with modern and ergonomic equipment on deck, and well-appointed down below with all the trappings you’d expect of a yacht of this caliber.

ZINGARA has benefited from an educated and open-checkbook style of ownership her entire life, and it shows. With a yard-quoted replacement value of $1.8M, she won’t last long on the market at this competitive price.

ZINGARA has an all-around classic Herreshoff-style interior and is heated by an Espar diesel system. The main cabin area is naturally illuminated by two very large opening hatches above, and nine stainless steel opening ports. She sleeps a total of five in a traditional layout, with one stateroom forward and three berths in the main cabin. She is truly a superb offshore cruising/live-aboard yacht for a couple or a family with 2-3 children. She is also an ideal weekend cruiser that can comfortably accommodate occasional guests.

The bow boasts a large forepeak area, with center divider for anchor rode, and plenty of storage. Immediately aft is the owner’s stateroom, which has a bureau and generous lockers to starboard and a large 6’-8” double berth to port. There is a hanging locker and plenty of large drawers for storage. One large opening hatch and two stainless steel opening ports provide plenty of light and ventilation.

The main salon features a large drop-leaf table on centerline, with liquor storage within and a utensil drawer on the aft end. The table, like all the interior joiner work with the exception of the teak sole, is cherry. Outboard on either side of the table are two 6’-8” settees, which convert to very comfortable single berths. Outboard and above each of these are two storage lockers with a bookcase in the center. There is additional storage behind the backrests of these berths.

The U-shaped galley is located just aft of the main cabin on the starboard side. The double stainless steel galley sinks are located on centerline, able to drain very well whether the boat is on port or starboard tack. Countertops are white Formica, and there is plentiful storage space in drawers, cabinets and cubbies of varnished cherry. The gimbaled, 2-burner Force 10 stove and oven are outboard to starboard, and adjacent is the large Adler Barbour refrigeration unit on the aft bulkhead area.

The large head is located directly opposite the galley on the port side and immediately forward of the navigation station. Stainless steel sink with storage under, and cubby with sliding door outboard. Y-valve w/holding tank.

The navigation station has a varnished cherry desktop, with a varnished cherry base with three drawers. Main electrical panel located outboard of the navigator’s seat to port. The nav seat serves as the forward end of the large 7’-6” quarter berth.

There is a shortage today of truly unique, one-off, New England pedigree sailboats. Most of those left floating are true classics, requiring eye-popping annual budgets and endless upkeep to maintain their planked hulls. In addition, many of these vessels could never match the performance of the modern daysailers and cruising yachts. ZINGARA represents a rare and exciting opportunity to own a vessel with all the aesthetic appeal of a true classic, plus all the sailing attributes of a modern-day racer/cruiser, at a fraction of the cost. She will continue to turn heads in every port she enters, and boggle the minds of her competing skippers on the race course.
