Jamestown, RI, US

A nice example of the Little Harbor 36 Express Series, SCOUT has had only two owners and has been continually upgraded throughout her life. The design philosophy was to create an ergonomic day boat for entertaining, which could also be used for comfortable weekend cruising in all weather. Many of this design were retrofitted to be used as offshore fishing boats. Non-skid decks, absence of exterior varnished trim and straight drive propulsion, coupled with reliable Cummins power, make SCOUT the epitome of low-maintenance. It is rare to find such a highly-sought-after New England pedigreed boat at such a competitive price.

SCOUT is in the water, in good condition and easy to show in Jamestown, RI.

Below decks the LH36 Express offers a surprisingly comfortable and spacious living area, with a large V-berth, well-equipped galley and head with sink-shower. An opening deck hatch and four opening port lights provide natural light and ventilation.

Forward, the large V-berth has storage beneath. Above and outboard are shelves each side. Further aft to starboard is a hanging locker with single settee below, with an under-seat bin for further storage.

Aft to port, the galley has a refrigerator powered by a 12V compressor, stainless-steel sink with hot & cold pressurized fresh water, ample countertop space and plenty of cabinets and drawers to store supplies for a weekend getaway.

Opposite the galley, the head is equipped with a manual toilet and a stainless-steel sink with hot/cold pressure service from the fresh water tanks. The sink faucet pulls out to convert to a shower, and there is a gray water sump below the floor grate for drainage.

Teak and holly sole completes the bright and warm interior aesthetic, as expected of vessels with the Little Harbor pedigree.

SCOUT’s bridge deck is equipped with the desirable hardtop option. This reduces the need to renew expensive canvas tops every few years and provides a sturdy platform to secure the custom Isinglass enclosure, which ensures a completely dry passage for captain, crew and passengers in all weather. The oversized stainless-steel tubular support struts, which support the hard top, also serve as well-placed hand rails for crew or passengers transiting the side decks. The Isinglass panels are easily zippered off for running in ‘convertible mode.’

Thanks to the Deep Vee hull shape and bow design, this boat runs extremely dry, but the windshield is equipped with wipers and washers for those choppy days.

There is an adjustable captain’s chair at the wheel to starboard and a two-person bench seat offset to port. The engines are accessed via boxes beneath these seats. Behind the captain’s and navigator’s bench, cushions and backrests on the engine boxes create extra seating.

The cockpit has plenty of open real estate for entertaining larger parties. A porch-style bench with upholstered cushion provides additional seating. Speakers are mounted for surround sound from the stereo system.
