ACCOMMODATIONS
SOUTHERN CROSS sleeps four in two private double cabins plus two in the main salon. The interior is beautifully finished in American cherry with abundant solid trim, grab rails, hull ceilings, louvered or paneled locker fronts, and raised-drawer fronts. Floorboards are varnished teak and holly and interior upholstery is dark blue Ultrasuede.
Starting forward, the owner’s cabin features a spacious island berth on centerline, a large hanging locker, various storage lockers, shelving outboard and a vanity mirror with washbasin aft. Light and ventilation provided by two opening portholes and a large deck hatch.
The full-beam main salon features an L-shaped settee to port which converts into a double berth that also serves as seating around the dining table. The varnished cherry table has beautiful inlay work with drop-down leaf and folds up into the forward bulkhead when not in use. To starboard, a settee runs the length of the salon and can be used as a berth as well. The aftmost section of the settee has a pivoting back rest which can convert this section into a chart table seat. There are louvered lockers and bookshelves outboard each side. Lastly, there are two opening portholes, two cowl vents, two cabin portlights and a large deck hatch for excellent light and ventilation.
The L-shaped galley is aft of the salon to port and features the following:
Further aft to port, the guest cabin provides a large double berth, a small settee, lockers outboard and a hanging locker. There is also easy access to the engine and drive train in addition to front access behind companionway. There are two deck hatches and an opening porthole for light and ventilation.
Opposite the galley to starboard, the aft facing nav station features a full-size chart table /work space with built-in chart storage, flush mounted electronics, drawers below and main switch panel outboard.
The head is furthest aft to starboard and includes Corian countertop with undermounted stainless sink, electric toilet, cherry framed mirror, storage outboard, and holding tank monitor. There is also a dedicated shower stall with bi-fold door, teak seat and teak sole. A portlight, opening porthole and deck hatch provide great light and ventilation.
