LUNA is hull # 15 of only 17 Hunt Harrier 36s in existence. In high demand and hard to come by, these iconic designs have become collectible because the molds no longer exist. What a shame, as they are amazing boats on multiple fronts, not the least of which is the character they take on when powered with twin Volvo 435hp diesels with shafts props and rudders. If ever there were the equivalent of a 12 -cylinder touring car on water, this is it! Power aplenty when running with a gaggle of family and friends. Fast (yes!) with an easy 30-32 knot cruise, but equally important is how well she goes at slow speeds on a plane at a whisper, sipping fuel with very little bow rise and therefore excellent visibility for helmsperson and guests alike. And no drier riding boat exists, which means the huge and open cockpit is great underway as well as at rest.
Built for Florida usage, she has a minimal maintenance exterior with white gelcoat surfaces to keep things from heating up too much underfoot, behind the windshield and in the cabin. A simple and well-thought-out boat and well-equipped with goodies like AC/reverse cycle heat for the interior, twin Garmin plotters at the helm, twin Stidd pedestal seats, autopilot, bow thruster, a custom bridge deck wet bar - along with some custom features that allow dual use for the enthusiastic host and the avid angler alike. Bravo!
Exterior space and day boating are clearly the focus, with a very large ensuite head below in keeping with this theme. And yet the interior is both quite lovely and functional with a convertible dinette, galley, and large V-berth with filler to make a huge double, perfect for overnights or the occasional long weekend for a couple or family with younger children.
LUNA is indeed a special boat. Superbly maintained, with light seasonal use in a covered slip up until 2024. This is the second Hunt for the original and current owners with decades of boat ownership in both power and sail, North and South. In other words, they know a great boat when they see one. LUNA benefits from recent improvements like the addition of an electric windlass and anchor roller, fiberglass swim platform, custom bimini and dual height settee on the bridge deck. Huge and versatile cockpit with wide and flat coamings which are comfortable to sit on and secure for stepping on top of. Transom door to starboard is a nice feature for both swimming and landing a kingfish. The cockpit on LUNA is currently wide open to allow for deck chairs as desired. We have seen this real estate used in many ways on these boats with room for lots of additional built-in seating on stainless frames which can be easily removed in part or as a whole. L- and U-shaped settees with bolstered backrests are common and really make this area “pop” as a yacht (ask for photos).
Entire cockpit sole can easily be removed from the boat. Two hatches aft for quick access to rudder posts and aft bilge. Single hatch just forward on centerline to access fuel tank dipstick and sender.
Custom fiberglass 24-gallon well on centerline on transom for use as a drinks cooler and also plumbed with pump for live well. Makes a great tabletop for drinks, food. Also makes for great fender storage.
BRIDGE DECK and HELM
Long and wide, with gobs of space for a gaggle of family and friends! Well protected by the windshield and curved glass side panels and overhead by the convertible bimini top (new 2024) and yet can be wide open to the front, sides and back - great for warmer climes and days. Side filler curtains (never been used).
Featuring twin pedestal chairs- both upgraded Stidd Slimline w/ white powder-coated frames to match the covering in white Ultra-leather (self-piped) with optional varnished teak ladderbacks - one at the helm and another for a companion across to port.
Portside dash area with teak-framed chart book locker with tinted Lexan top. Outboard of chair is a varnished teak shelf with solid handle built into the fiddle with cupholders and a locker with door beneath. Varnished teak bi-fold and louvered companionway doors with heavy duty magnetic catch and bi fold teak and Lexan sliding hatch top. Forward-facing “classic station wagon” side vents on the side windshield panels for increased ventilation which pull in lots of breeze when underway.
Helm Console: fiberglass pod, hinged along the bottom which easily opens aft to provide truly excellent access to all helm wiring, steering and electronics. Varnished pod outboard with shelf, fiddle, drink holder, recessed “cubby” and handhold with 110v/12v electrical panel beneath with sliding Lexan door. Built-in natural teak step at helm. Custom teak and stainless steering wheel and Ritchie compass, both with Hunt logo. Single white protective Stamoid cover for the entire helm.
Next aft to starboard is a large custom molded wet bar trimmed with teak and topped with Corian, with a recessed stainless steel sink with folding faucet and hot and cold water. Storage locker beneath with second locker aft with built-in drawers, both with varnished teak doors.
And aft to port is a custom molded dual-height twin settee (approx. 4’ X 3.5’) with elevated front and lower aft seating and backrest; insulated with oversized scuppers to drain overboard and double as fish box or large cooler. Top lifts effortlessly on gas struts for easy access. Removable seat cushions.
Custom bimini top new in 2024 (w/ clear plastic filler piece to windshield) with custom integrated SS arch for antennas w/ (4) stainless rocket launchers (rod holders) and side curtains (original ‘Navy’ top, which connects directly to windshield without a filler curtain, is part of the inventory and may be preferred North of the Mason Dix line). There are stitched-on Stamoid safety grab straps down both sides of the bimini top for more secure movement along the side decks and custom stainless handles on the underside for secure handholds while underway.
INTERIOR
Interior cabin: beautiful satin-finished cherry joinery throughout with molded fiberglass hull liner and optional padded vinyl fabric overhead for a distinctive custom touch.
Large comfortable V-berth forward w/removable center filler cushion to make a huge double with storage compartments beneath, accessed by fold-down cherry locker doors or lift-outs beneath the cushions.
Cabin sole is finished in very durable faux teak & holly.
Cabin has 10,000 BTU air conditioning unit with large vent in saloon cabin area and a small 4” open / close vent in the head compartment plus three opening ports and a large Lewmar overhead hatch with screen.

Galley to stbd. with Corian top, SS sink, hot & cold pressure water, optional single burner electric ceramic stovetop, satin-finished cherry storage cabinets above outboard with SS microwave oven, one cabinet below & drawer storage as well. Convertible dinette with seating for four and storage beneath converts to proper adult berth with 6’-10” length. “Pilot Berth” child’s berth stores outboard and hangs from overhead when in use.
Port side hanging locker forward of dinette with Corian shelf with fiddles, cherry framed AC vent with shelf above. Forward and aft facing “martini glass’ reading lights on either side as well as to starboard for berth. Additional reading light aft for dinette plus overhead lights.
Ensuite head; large, comfortable, and practical with good standing headroom and good ventilation from opening port, overhead hatch, and AC/heat vent. Corian countertop w/ satin finished cherry wood cabinet door storage beneath, SS sink, hot & cold pressure water faucet /shower head, outboard satin finished cherry drop-down faced storage lockers, in-floor molded shower pan w/automatic shower drain, cherry framed mirror on aft bulkhead; tie-back shower curtain with overhead track; electric flush head w/ Y-valve and macerator pump for off-shore overboard discharge. 18 gal. holding tank for in-shore use with deck pump-out.

MECHANICAL
There are electric piston struts to allow the entire bridge deck sole to rise at the push of a button for easy access to all mechanical engine compartment components. The engine compartment beneath the bridge deck has composite sound reduction to minimize sound levels.
Custom LED strip lighting added to the top sides of both the inboard and outboard sides of the structural bilge stringers beneath each engine to enhance and illuminate the engine room bilge. Overhead lighting in the engine room compartment.
