Introducing the Cockwells Duchy 45
The largest and most spacious Duchy built to date has arrived.
Cockwells unveiled the new Duchy 45 to the world at the Southampton International Boat Show on September 18. Here in the US, visitors to our Wellington Yachts display at the Newport International Boat Show were able to see the Duchy 35, and learn about her big sister, the Duchy 45.
If you stopped by the booth in Newport and were compelled to hear about the Duchy 45, this post is for you. If you missed the show, here is everything you need to know about the new flagship of the Duchy Motor Launches range.
Classic lines, built in Cornwall
The Duchy 45, built by Cockwells Boatbuilding in Falmouth, Cornwall, is the latest in the series of Duchy motor launches to be built. Other Duchy launches include the 25, 27, Duchy Sport, and Duchy 35. The next build will be the impressive Duchy 60.
The 45 has the classic lines and craftsmanship combined with superior handling and state of the art technology that are a hallmark of the Duchy series. “Our new Duchy 45 blends intelligent design and outstanding performance with the superior build quality of the Duchy Motor Launches brand to elevate your on-the-water lifestyle to new heights,” explains Cockwells’ Head of Design and Sales, Henry Ward. The stylish wheelhouse, handsome shearline, tumblehome aft, hard chine hull, and deep bow sections work together to craft this elegant and performance based coastal cruiser.
More room than any Duchy before her
With an expansive salon that spills out to the equally sizable cockpit, plus a super king size master cabin with ensuite head, choice of one or two guest cabins with heads and fully appointed galley, the Duchy 45 has utilized her space in the best of ways.
Large wraparound windows in the salon add light and visibility while double bifold doors fold the saloon open to the large aft cockpit and helm doors on either side open onto the wide and secure side decks. Add the optional sunroof and the whole space opens to the sky.
A transom gate leads to a full-beam bathing platform that lowers hydraulically for swims and tender launches.
Performance and handling
Twin Volvo Penta IPS 600 pod drives seamlessly integrate the engine, driveline and propellers for a smooth and reliable boating experience – reaching a cruising speed of 25 knots and a maximum speed of 31 knots. Joystick control, virtual anchoring, bow thruster, and dynamic positioning come with the IPS package.
