Conceived as a stylish but practical day cruiser with accommodation for occasional longer ventures, the Abaco 40 finds favour with those who want fine sea keeping and performance in a boat with classic aesthetics.
The hull configuration, which utilizes broad chine flats aft on a modified deep vee form was first proven in a 39 footer built by Bruckmann in 1994. The hull type gets on a level plane at 12 knots and is extremely fuel efficient from the mid teens on up. Stability and an easy ride and motion are also characteristic of this form. The Abaco 40 is powered by a single Cummins 670 HP diesel and cruises in the low 20 knot range with a top speed of approx. 30 knots. The single propeller and rudder are protected by a skeg which also aids this hull type’s well known excellent tracking ability. The Abaco 40 is also available in twin engine pod drive form with a top speed in the high 30’s.
Mark Bruckmann and Mark Ellis have a long history of producing handsome and innovative yachts, power and sail, that bespeak classic yacht quality and style. The Bluestar 29.9 is a thoroughly modern yacht, yet one whose looks are steeped tradition. It’s powerful, quiet engines and newly designed hull makes the Bluestar one of the most beautiful crafts in the harbour.
Inspired by the success of the Bluestar 29.9, the 38 is unique in her class. Built using the latest materials and technology, the highly efficient deep-v hull gives a smooth soft ride at any speed in any conditions. The Bluestar 38 is powered by twin Yanmar 315 hp turbo diesels as standard. Greater power options are available up to 440 hp.
The interior of the 38 features an “inclusive” layout offering a seamless flow between the exterior and interior spaces. The design achieves openness and light by eliminating the walls and expanding windows.
Forward is an island double bed with ensuite access to the head and shower. Elegant, highly varnished solid teak joinery throughout the interior visually connects the open spaces of the boat. The large galley is completely open to the helm and the sky above. A large dinette is to starboard which converts to an excellent bunk for two.
A proper helmsman’s bench seat opposite an oversized navigation station have an open connection to the galley below. The helm is bright and far more spacious than any other yacht in her class. The open cockpit provides ample storage and the side decks are generous and easily navigated. The Bluestar 38 maximizes comfort and livability by providing wide open spaces and a panoramic view of the water.

Modelled on the success of the Abaco 40ās unique performance and seakeeping characteristics, the Abaco 47 offers a larger platform with more accommodation for extended cruising. Designed by Mark Ellis, the Abaco 47 utilizes the same proven hull form used on the Abaco 40. This innovative hull configuration allows the Abaco 47 to plane at low speeds (12 knots), affording a wide cruising speed range as well as extremely fuel efficient performance.
The Abaco 47 is powered by either a single or twin diesel engines. The single engine series utilizes a Caterpillar C18 1136 hp diesel and will cruise in the low to mid 20 knot range with a top speed of approximately 30 knots. The propeller and rudder are protected by a skeg that also provides excellent stability and tracking in a seaway. The twin engine configuration is powered by twin Caterpillar C8.7 641 hp diesels and will cruise in the mid to high 20 knot range with a top speed of approximately 34 knots. As with the single engine installation, a centerline skeg provides the same directional stability and tracking performance as well as grounding protection. The variable speed bow and stern thrusters provide excellent handling and maneuverability.
The Abaco 47 interior features a spacious master cabin forward with island queen berth and ensuite head with separate shower. A guest cabin to starboard is offered with a double berth or twin single berths. The twin configuration provides ensuite access to the second head. The galley, to port, is open to the pilothouse above providing plenty of light and ventilation. The galley features separate refrigerator and freezer, induction cooktop and convection microwave oven.
The large pilothouse provides excellent visibility and seating comfort. An āLā shaped settee with dining table converts to a double berth when needed. Opposite the dining table is a smaller settee with a television lift outboard. Forward port and starboard are Stidd helmsman and co-pilot seats. At the aft end of the pilothouse a large sliding door opens to the cockpit, where there is comfortable seating for outdoor dining or lounging.
Bruckmann Yachts will build the Abaco 47 to order allowing each client to personalize their yacht to suit their specific requirements.
